Page Speed Optimization That Moves the Needle — Not Just the Score

A faster site ranks higher, converts better, and loses fewer visitors before they read a word. I find what's slowing your site down and fix it at the code level — not just with image compression.

Page speed optimization has the highest ROI when it's applied to sites that already have traffic and content — not sites that are empty or brand new.

Failing Lighthouse or PageSpeed scores

Scores below 70 on mobile are actively hurting rankings and costing conversions. This is the clearest signal that optimization work will pay off.

High bounce rate on mobile

If analytics show mobile visitors leaving almost immediately, slow load time is often the primary culprit — not your content.

Search Console Core Web Vitals failures

LCP, CLS, or INP failures in Search Console are direct ranking penalties. These need to be addressed at the code level — not masked with a CDN.

WordPress with plugin bloat

Most slow WordPress sites can be dramatically improved with plugin audits, proper caching, image optimization, and script deferral — without a full rebuild.

Brand new sites with no traffic

If the site just launched and has no data yet, optimization work is premature. Build it right first, then optimize based on real performance data.

Expecting a perfect 100 score

A 95+ score on a real business site is excellent. Chasing 100 often requires removing features that users need. I optimize for real-world user experience, not benchmark perfection.

Third-party scripts you can't remove

Chat widgets, ad pixels, and some analytics tools add real load time that can't be fully optimized away. I'll tell you exactly how much each one costs and what tradeoffs exist.

Page speed optimization is typically an audit followed by a fix engagement. Complexity scales with site size and CMS.

Starter

$ 800 +

Audit + quick wins for small sites

  • Lighthouse + CrUX analysis
  • Top-5 issue identification
  • Image optimization pass
  • Caching configuration review

Typical timeline: 1 week

Advanced

$ 4k +

Complex sites or e-commerce performance

  • Large site or WooCommerce optimization
  • Server-level caching + CDN configuration
  • JavaScript profiling
  • Ongoing monitoring setup

Typical timeline: 2–4 weeks

Every engagement includes a before/after Lighthouse report with real-user CrUX data. You'll see exactly what changed and why it matters.

Slow sites lose visitors before they read your headline. Here's what a proper speed fix actually addresses.

Root-cause fixes — not surface patches

I identify render-blocking scripts, oversized images, excessive plugins, and poor caching configurations — then fix the actual causes, not just the symptoms.

Lighthouse and CrUX data interpreted correctly

A Lighthouse score in a lab doesn't always reflect real-world performance. I cross-reference CrUX field data from Search Console to fix issues that affect actual users.

Sustainable improvements that hold

One-time image compression fades quickly. I implement caching layers, loading strategies, and code changes that maintain performance through content updates.

MJM did an amazing job designing and optimizing my Shopify Apparel Shop! The design looks professional and the SEO’s are fixed. He saved me a lot of time and energy optimizing my website, so I can focus on other aspects of my business. He also taught me a couple very helpful tools I can use in the future. I highly recommend using his design services.

I was very happy with MJM Designz! Five star to all the steps, design, communication and launch. Always on time and very friendly. This company has a deep knowledge of web development and IT. If you like to be the owner of your website, this is it! They don’t take anyone’s website as hostage and let you choose and buy your own host. MJM offers great deals for maintenance as well. Very reasonable and honest.

Straight answers to the questions most clients ask before we start.
Most sites in that range can reach 80–95 with proper optimization. The exact ceiling depends on your CMS, theme, and third-party scripts. I'll give you a realistic target after a quick audit — not a number I can't back up.
Core Web Vitals are a confirmed Google ranking signal. Improving LCP, CLS, and INP moves you from the "poor" to "good" threshold, which gives you a ranking advantage over slower competitors in the same category.
Too many plugins (especially page builders), unoptimized images, no caching layer, render-blocking scripts (jQuery loaded in the head), and cheap shared hosting. Most of these are fixable without a full rebuild.
For WordPress sites, yes — I need access to the WordPress admin and ideally the hosting control panel or SFTP to implement server-level caching and file changes. Everything is done on a staging copy first.
Code-level changes are permanent. Caching configurations hold until they're changed. Image optimization is a one-time fix unless new unoptimized images are uploaded. I'll document what you need to maintain after I'm done.
