Custom Web Development for Sites That Need to Actually Perform

When templates and page builders aren't enough — I build from scratch. Clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with no framework overhead, no legacy bloat, and no guessing what the code is doing.

Custom development is the right call when your requirements exceed what any template or CMS theme can reasonably deliver.

Performance is non-negotiable

Enterprise sites, high-traffic landing pages, or any project where a 98+ Lighthouse score isn't optional — custom code is the only reliable path.

Non-standard UI or interaction requirements

Custom animations, data-driven layouts, complex filtering, or integrations that page builders can't handle cleanly.

API and third-party integrations

CRMs, booking platforms, payment systems, or proprietary data sources — integrated cleanly without duct-taped plugins.

Long-term maintainability

If the site needs to survive for years without turning into technical debt, a clean custom build ages far better than a page builder setup.

You need to edit content daily yourself

Custom-coded sites don't have a CMS out of the box. If your team needs to update content frequently without a developer, WordPress is the right call.

Tight budget or very short timeline

Custom development costs more and takes longer than template builds. If budget is the primary constraint, there may be a smarter starting point.

Full e-commerce functionality

For a complete storefront with cart, checkout, and inventory — a purpose-built e-commerce platform is the right foundation, not a custom static build.

Custom development is scoped to your requirements. These ranges reflect typical project sizes — every project starts with a discovery call.

Starter

$ 2k +

Custom landing page or single-page site

  • Hand-coded HTML/CSS/JS
  • Mobile-first layout
  • Performance-first build
  • No template, no page builder

Typical timeline: 1–3 weeks

Growth

$ 7k +

Complex builds with integrations or scale

  • Large site or app-like functionality
  • Multiple API integrations
  • Custom JavaScript interactions
  • Extended testing + staging

Typical timeline: 5–10 weeks

All custom builds include a staging environment, cross-browser testing, and performance validation before going live.

Custom development means no dead weight — no unused plugin code, no mystery CSS, no framework you don't need.

Built to spec — not bent from a template

When your requirements don't fit a standard CMS theme or template, custom development is the answer. The build matches what you need, not what a theme happens to support.

Maximum performance by default

No React, no jQuery, no framework added 'just in case.' Custom builds use exactly what's needed — resulting in sites that load in under a second on mobile.

Maintainable by someone other than me

Clean, documented HTML and CSS that another developer can pick up and understand. No proprietary builder formats, no vendor lock-in.

MJM did an amazing job designing and optimizing my Shopify Apparel Shop! The design looks professional and the SEO’s are fixed. He saved me a lot of time and energy optimizing my website, so I can focus on other aspects of my business. He also taught me a couple very helpful tools I can use in the future. I highly recommend using his design services.

I was very happy with MJM Designz! Five star to all the steps, design, communication and launch. Always on time and very friendly. This company has a deep knowledge of web development and IT. If you like to be the owner of your website, this is it! They don’t take anyone’s website as hostage and let you choose and buy your own host. MJM offers great deals for maintenance as well. Very reasonable and honest.

Straight answers to the questions most clients ask before we start.
In this context, custom means hand-coded from a blank file — not a WordPress theme, not an Elementor template, not a Webflow block. Every element is written intentionally. That's what gives you maximum performance and control.
Semantic HTML5, modern CSS (grid, custom properties, no frameworks), and vanilla JavaScript where interactions are needed. For larger projects I use 11ty as a static site generator. The stack is chosen to minimize overhead, not to use the latest buzzword.
A few options: I can integrate a headless CMS like Netlify CMS or Forestry, or hand you a simple component file you can edit directly. If frequent content updates are critical, we may decide WordPress is the better fit upfront.
Yes — custom plugin development, ACF integration, and bespoke JavaScript functionality added to existing WordPress sites are all within scope.
Custom code is faster, more flexible, and carries no monthly platform fees. The trade-off is that editing requires technical involvement. Webflow and Squarespace are easier to self-manage but come with performance limitations and recurring costs.
